From a post on Slashdot, I came across this news story. It details how Kent State University has decided that all student athletes (400 of them) are required to remove their profiles from Facebook.com by August 1 or lose their scholarships.
On the one hand, I can't blame the school for this decision. Students can be incredibly stupid sometimes and post information that definitely should not be on the 'Net. And kids of every age are doing this, but that's another story.
Then there's the issue of free speech. Does the University have the right to ban a given website just because they feel like it? Because, in their opinion, students are in danger by using it? Shouldn't that be for the student to decide? What's your opinion?
