Look out Flickr, here comes Google's Picasa Web Albums! The service is in a limited test right now, meaning you have to enter your Gmail address and they'll send you an invitation, first come, first served.

I got my address in there early, so hopefully I'll get an account and be able to report back here on what I think.

But the service looks really cool...there are some things about it that I can already tell will be sweet. Flickr never grabbed me...I tried a few times to get started over there, but I just don't like the interface. But I've never found a photo program easier to use than Picasa. So if the Web Albums interface is anything like the program, then this will be a smash hit.

And get this...they say that you'll be able to upload directly from the Picasa program (obviously), but you'll also be able to download. That's right, just click and download your friend's Web Albums. How sweet is that?

Hopefully, this will take off...I'm excited!
