This has been around for a couple months, apparently, but I just found out about it yesterday. And it has the potential to revolutionalize the process of emailing files. The free program needs to be installed on both ends in order for this to work.
The Pando program takes your huge file or folder (yes, entire folders can be sent) and converts it to a .pando file (which savy readers will see as similar to .torent files). The Pando program does, indeed, use BitTorent technology to transfer the massive files. It can handle stuff up to 1GB (!!!).
I used it to send an average size file and it seemed to work really well. I have yet to try sending something huge with it, but I fully intend to give it a shot. I'll report back on how it works, but in the meantime, you might want to check it out.
Read more at Google News (the stories are a little old, seeing as the program was released in May)
